My name is Michael Joe Powell (Mike) and I am a tattoo technician apprentice located in Cadillac, Michigan.
In 2020, I decided to refocus my passion and become a professional artist. In May 2023, I became a full time apprentice under the direction and mentorship of Eric Hodges; however, prior to this shift in my career, I served with the United States Marine Corp for eight years and worked as an ironworker/welder, which is where Eric and I first met and discovered our mutual interest in art and tattoos. From there a great friendship evolved and has played a significant role in my career goals.
I believe my innate passion for art and professional experiences with the U.S. Marine Corp, as well as ironwork, have provided a unique and creative foundation for becoming a tattoo artist. Although I have worked with various types of mediums in the past, the art and process of tattooing skin has absorbed my attention. Along with making sure all my clients have a safe, sterile environment, I thoroughly enjoy building relationships with them and making sure their tattoo experience is nothing less than comfortable and fun.
On a personal note, when I am not in the tattoo studio, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children.
